Bozos walk among us

A new project here on Singletails.

'Bozo' is one of our favorite perjoratives here at Singletails Central, which faithful readers know is located on the upper floors of the Singletails Building that graces Park Avenue in the 50s. Just what is a Bozo? A Bozo is an incandescently stupid person who through the force of his or her own will seeks to impose his stupidity on the world around him or her.

Singletails officially declares that New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey is officially a Bozo. Governor McGreevey has been on the Bozo radar for a while. First there was the tax refund check that New Jersey residents received, in the amount of $4.28. It is doubtful that mailing checks for $4.28 to all New Jersey residents was worth the cost (to taxpayers) of all the accounting, processing, and mailing costs involved. But now, Governor McGreevey has dropped a big old Bozo Bomb on an unsuspecting populous.

Y'see, a Palestinian Solidarity Group is seeking to have a conference at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. (Other states name their state universities after themselves, such as 'Michigan State University' or 'Penn State University' or dropping the 'state' such as 'The University of California at Berkeley,' but New Jersey, being the Low Self Esteem State, opts to refer to itself euphemistically as 'Rutgers' for these purposes.) So Governor McGreevey is seeking to pressure the President and the Board of Governors of Rutgers to shut down the conference.

Singletails notes that it would be only slightly less blatantly self-promoting if Governor McGreevey were to climb to the summit of the dome of the statehouse in Trenton and spend an afternoon calling out, "Hey! Hey you Jews out there! Vote for me next time around! Yo, Jews! Vote for me!"

Now as it happens, Singletails would doubtless have much to quibble with if trapped in an elevator with a student-organized Palestinian solidarity group. As, apparently does the Governor.

But... Like... You can't do that. It's a public forum. You can't only open it to groups that agree with your particular perspective (which I guess in this case would be the Dunderheaded Wishy-washy Democrats from Woodbridge Student Solidarity Network).

There can be no good outcome here. Either the President of Rutgers stands firm and Governor Bozo scores mucho political points among the dim bulb caucus, or the President caves, the students file suit, and the first judge who looks at the case finds in favor of the students because of that pesky First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, and the Garden State has to cough up big bucks from it's coffers (of taxpayer dollars) to compensate the students.

Whatever the case, Governor McGreevey, you are a Bozo.
