I just learned that the first man I ever had the honor and pleasure of whipping is critically ill with cancer. Such a terrible thing. He is a wonderful man, and I'm deeply sorry to hear that.

Please do me a favor and take a moment today to say a prayer for him. No guff about "I don't pray" or "I'm a devout atheist" or "I don't believe God intervenes in human affairs that way." Just do it. 'Kay? Cool.

Get quiet, think of this man down in Florida, a man who is kind, strong, and wise, and entrust him to God. Or 'hold him in the light,' as our brothers and sisters in the Religious Society of Friends say.
